How long is a counselling session?
Counselling sessions are for 50-60 minutes
What qualifications does Stephanie have?
Stephanie is highly qualified with a master’s degree in counselling, is supervised monthly by an experienced Psychologist, and is professionally registered with the Australian Counselling Association. Please note that currently in Australia, the term “counsellor” is not protected. This means that anyone can refer to themselves as a counsellor and may not have completed any or very minimal formal training.
How many sessions will I need?
This is largely dependent on the nature of why you are coming and what it is you hope to get out of sessions. I will make a suggestion at your initial appointment to help guide this process.
How does confidentiality work with a counsellor?
All information that you disclose in your session with a counsellor is confidential. There are two exceptions to this rule. The first exception is if you are at risk of harm to yourself or someone else and the second exception is in relation to court orders. If either of these situations become relevant Stephanie will discuss this with you
Cancellation Policy
Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, as well as missed appointments (no-shows), will incur the full session fee.
If you arrive late for your appointment, the session will still end at the scheduled time and the full session fee will apply.
We understand that unexpected situations can occasionally arise, and exceptions may be considered at the clinician’s discretion in cases of genuine emergency or illness.
Providing adequate notice allows the appointment time to be offered to another client who may be waiting for support.
Do I need a GP referral to see Stephanie?
You do not need a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP. Your GP is welcome to provide you with a letter of referral.
